Maintaing your pet vaccinations keeps your pet healthy,

WHAT VACCINES SHOULD MY PUPPY RECEIVE?

  • DA2PP (Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus): Puppies must be vaccinated every three weeks until they are five months old and must have received at least two DA2PP vaccines by the time of surgery. For example, 12-week-old puppy that has received two DA2PP vaccines will still need additional vaccinations every three weeks until he/she reaches 20 weeks of age.

However, we can proceed with surgery since two DA2PP vaccines have already been administered.

    • Age: Dogs 6-8 weeks and older

    • Series: Repeat EVERY 3 weeks until puppy is 20 weeks olds; repeat once a year.

    • Prerequisite: Puppies need at least 2 sets of this vaccine before getting spayed/neutered.

    • Precaution: Make sure your puppy is NOT taken out for walks or exposed to areas (for example: parks, especially dog parks) where unvaccinated dogs might have been until your puppy is fully vaccinated at 20 weeks old (five months). After the last set of vaccines is given, wait approximately 1 week before taking puppy out for walks.

    • For dogs over one year, proof of vaccination is not required, but they should have received at least two DA2PP vaccines.

    • This vaccine helps prevent parvo and distemper.

    • Note: If you do not know if you dog has ever received this vaccine, you should repeat in 3 weeks.

    • Precaution: The safest thing for your kitten is to be in “indoor cat.” If you are going to let your cat out however, please make sure you wait at least ONE WEEK after the last vaccine in this series.

    • While we highly encourage this vaccine prior to surgery, we can also administer it on the day of surgery. Please keep in mind that unvaccinated cats have a higher risk of contracting airborne illnesses if they do not receive vaccines prior to surgery.
